BBFK: PPP Loans WatchDog CO

This week have Colorado and the group in discussion is Junior Achievement USA and some questions we have for them are:

  1. Why did you take out a PPP loan for $1.6 million when the organization has over $26 million net assets?

  2. The program and support fees of $13 million is that from all other JA across the country?

  3. Why do you have pensions over $1,000,000 per year?

  4. Why have you spent over $28 million in total for lobbying, $1 million per year for the last four years in lobbying nontaxable and $250,000 per year for the last four years in grassroots nontaxable?

  5. Why was $1 million cash grants given to 3DE National LLC? Is it because JA owns and operates 3DE National LLC?

    1. Why didn’t you report it in Schedule R??

We reached out to the Junior Achievement USA in order to ask them about these questions we came across, but they never responded for comment.

In conclusion, Junior Achievement USA should give the money back just like Fortune 500 companies did, but with a twist. Half going back to the government and the other half going back to Building Blocks for Kids. First Western Trust Bank can give back any revenue made (penalty should double that amount) for creating this loan. Not sure what the government will do with their half, yet BBFK knows exactly what we will do with our portion.

Building Blocks for Kids would get a total amount of $800,000. Here is how that breakdown of that money will look like:

  • $20,000 towards our website.

  • $780,000 for 26 classrooms in Colorado

    • Helping 26 teachers, over 700 students with financial literacy and career discovery education for a full year. To learn more about the BBFK: MORE Program visit: https://bbfkids.org/
