BBFK: Nonprofit PPP Loans Watchdogs NE

This week we have Nebraska, the groups in discussion are Heartland Family Service and Cheyenne County Hospital Association, Inc. Some questions we have for these organization are:

Heartland Family Service:

  1. Why did you take out a PPP loan for $4.06 million when the organization has over $35 million net assets?

  2. Why do you think you deserve more government grants when you already received over $14M?

  3. Why do you have a pension plan if you're asking for PPP money?

  4. $32M in lobbying since the organization started 1875? Why $1.25M in 2019?

  5. What is the Investment in NFW LLC for $5.2M?

  6. Maybe you stop doing Banquets if you're going to lose money?

  7. Schedule R COMPANIES???

Cheyenne County Hospital Association, Inc:

  1. Why did you take out a PPP loan for $5.8 million when the organization has over $39 million net assets?

  2. What is included in “other” expenses, found in line 11g, that is totaling $6M?

  3. What are these other “employee benefits” that are granted to employees that is totaling up $6M?

  4. On line 24b, “BAD DEBTS” is written out, what are these debts from, can there be more information on them?

  5. Since you guys get most of your revenue from patient insurance and patients out of pocket money, what is the reason to ask for government financial support?

We reached out to the Heartland Family Service and Cheyenne County Hospital Association, Inc. in order to ask them about these alarming points we came across but  they never responded for a comment.

In conclusion, the Heartland Family Service and Cheyenne County Hospital Association, Inc. should give the money back just like Fortune 500 companies did, but with a twist. Half going back to the government and the other half going back to Building Blocks for Kids. Wells Fargo Bank can give back any revenue made (penalty should double that amount) for creating this loan. Not sure what the government will do with their half, yet BBFK knows exactly what we will do with our portion.

Building Blocks for Kids would get a total amount of $4,900,000. Here is how that breakdown of that money will look like:

  • $10,000 towards our website.

  • $4,890,000 for 163 classrooms in Nebraska

    • Helping 163 teachers, over 4,500 students with financial literacy and career discovery education for a full year. To learn more about the BBFK: MORE Program visit: https://bbfkids.org/
